I don't like being crowed by anyone, especially someone I don't know. I don't know your riding skills, how do I know that when the light turns green you aren't going to take off and kreen into the side of my bike? It's a safety issue with me. But I'm never rude about it, just careful.

I gotta agree with DirtyDave. I stop dead center of the lane. Not a big fan of folks crowding me (or slowing me down) when I ride. On the other hand, on the rare occasion where someone flies up behind me I move to the right and let 'em through. Oh, I never wave either...they'll get a head nod if I see 'em and feel like it.

Huh, hadn't really thought about it that much, but if i don't know them i usually pull to the side and about a bike length behind them.
If they've acknowledged me then i will pull up if they've given me room.
As far as talkin' to them arrogantly and giving them attitude. Not my nature.

dont like it either if I dont know em. I dont do it. I try to get towards the center at a light unless there is a big oil slick or something there. had a punk on a bend over bike rocket thing whip up beside me at a light with big crap eating grin. I just gave him a cold look and ignored him. He was ridin like an idiot anyways. It is considered bad manners to share a lane unless invited or you know the other rider.

RE: Stop light sharing.
must be an arizona thing. here in CA we lanesplit to the front of stopped traffic, and when we get to the front, we generally share the space with other bikes.
just how it goes around here.
when the light turns green, the bikes leave the cars in the dust and spread out a bit.
dunno why anyone would be that sensitive about sitting stopped with another bike in their lane. its not like you are riding handlebar to handlebar through the twisties or something.
