Default To buy an 06 or holdout for the 07s?

I've got my bike for sale right now 00 Roadking and am fairly certain it will sell. I'm torn between a Streetglide and Roadglide, I will get one of them just not 100% on which. But I'm starting to question if I should hold out till the 07's. I'm thinking that the Roadglide will get the new 6spd tranny and this year is a trial run for it in the dyna to work out the kinks and see if it's roadglide worthy. Has anyone heard if they are thinking about putting it in the RG? I mean, the bike is built for the long hiway haul...why wouldn't they put the 6spd in it??

That's a good question, I wish that I had an answer for you. Do you really think that the 6 speed would be better than the 5 speed? I understand about the waiting thing, because it would give them an extra year to work out the kinks. Maybe somebody with more technical skills will come along and help you with a better answer. Good luck

Seems like I'm always kicking down for an extra gear when doing 65-70 on the hiway....and on a Roadglide it would make SO much sense. I doubt I'm going to wait cause I hate to wait, but I sure wish I could get the 6spd w/out having to spring for it after buying the bike. I've seen a few Roadglides with the 6spd SE tranny in them. Not sure what the cost on that is, but probably more than it's worth for the 1 gear?

One way to find out? Do like I did when I bought my Springer, I asked a lot of questions and the people at the dealership were happy to answer them. It might help you on your decision. Good luck

Well, like I posted on a different thread yesterday, Harley is better at keeping secrets than our military. A friend from the MOCO would only admit this much..."we didn't develop that 6-speed to only use it in one line of bikes". This makes sense to me and you have to believe that if they put it in the Dyna line they surely intend to put it in the touring bikes. I know this much, a frame re-work would have to be done to accept that tranny and they wouldn't do that for just the Road Glide...more than likely, the entire line of touring bikes would be next, but, then again, maybe the softails are next. I am 100% sure that you will see the 6-speed in the baggers by '08 but I am only 50% sure you will see it by '07.

Even if it did get the new 6 gear tranny, I am sure they will incorporate that into the price of the bike.

I've been hearing the Baker 6 spd. is around $1500 with $500 to install. You could wait and see if next years Street Glide is part of the Screamin Eagle package.[]

Waiting is a bad thing when it comes to motors. Get a new one then if the '07's are what you want, get another one. Gotta be practical man, gotta be practical, LOL!

dudes- I don't want a 6 speed tranny for the softails....4 isn't really enough, but damn, 5 is fine for me. really my scoot does great cruisin along bout 80/85, after that it could use another, but hell how often to I go faster than 85? 5 speed is good for me....
