Less than an hour north of Charlotte, Tilley HD in Statesville rents them. So does Blue Ridge HD in Hickory, and you will be close to the good riding areas.

Maybe try Speedway Harley Davidson just up route 85 in Concord, they have a lot more inventory than Charlotte HD. Doesn't look like any NC dealers are listed on Eaglerider so not sure if they rent or not.

You're not terribly far from the Tail of the Dragon. That is one epic ride!!!! 318 curves in 11
miles. Wifey and I rode it in '13 on a Victory CCT. She enjoyed the scenery, I just kept us alive.

That ride is better for smaller-medium sized bikes, making the curves easier to negotiate. The Vic
did fine, but I would have enjoyed it more on a somewhat smaller/lighter bike.

I'll never forget -- I totally blew the first curve -- came in too fast. I overshot and briefly ended up in the
other lane. I quickly and safely corrected it. My wife snarked via the Sena, "Ya... um... see what
you can do about not screwing up the next 317."

Ride to Lake Lure, take Alt 74 up to I-40 west to west side of Asheville. A74 is twisty and will be good for a flat lander, broke me in real fast. A lot of good riding down there, think about rain gear.

Well I'm a happy camper again. I got in touch with the Harley Dealer in Hickory today and they have a Roadglide for me this weekend. The reason I wanted to rent a Roadglide is because I'm going to move up from my softtail to a tourer, so last week I took an Electraglide in Panama City and put 450 miles on it in 24 hrs.
After this trip I'm going to rent the Roadking for a day or so and make a decision.
I know it's kinda unfair to test the Roadglide in the twisties when I tested the Electraglide on mostly flat road but I'll test them where I can....
Looks like it's going to be a great weekend weather wise so I'm planning my routes now!

If U decide to do the 'Dragon', try to leave time for the "Waterfall Ride". This is US64 thru the Cullasaja Gorge.
US64 hooks up with NC28 in Franklin, NC and continues on to US129 at Topton, NC.

You can pull off at some 'falls' overlooks for the Cullasaja ride.
Well worth the effort.................
