Lived in CT, recently moved to AZ. Picked up a 17 road king.
On my other bikes, they had these "hot toppers", chromed plastic covers that pushed over the hex bolts. Can't seem to find them around.
Any leads?

 

Hot Toppers closed their doors Dec 31, 2013. Can still find some on ebay. Harley offers a pricier rendition called "classic covers" and Kuryakyn offers "kool Kaps"

 

I recently picked up the "Kuryakyn 2450 Kool Kaps Engine Kit" off of Amazon. They are well made and look nice on the bike.

 

My local H-D shop had a 7 gallon plastic bucket full of them from the bikes they had to take them off of to work on. Mechanic told me they charged a couple extra hours labor because they had to dig the silicon sealer out of all the socket head cap screws.

 

What's the purpose of covering fasteners? Hard to tell if any loosened if they are covered.

I never "got" this, either. I'm not one for hiding working parts under superfluous covers.

 

Same concept as a wheel cover over a steel wheel. Keep the crap out and dress it up a little.
