Default LAF or Drag Pipes, obnoxious or acceptable?

What's the general consensus on drag pipes such as the LAF pipes?

I've watched some videos on the Youtube, they're obviously pretty loud, but its hard to tell if they'd be completely obnoxious in person.

I would love to hear about people's opinions on such pipes, especially if you've run them on your bikes or ride with those that have them!

They're probably going to be obnoxiously loud. I have a buddy that has Rockstars (Magnaflow) on two of his bikes, which are basically a straight through 2 into 1 exhaust with no baffles. They're loud. Really loud. And I'm betting what you're showing in the pic would be even louder.

I know some people that have drag pipes and yes they are very loud but it sure does make it easier to hear them coming. To each their own.

hhmmm... I'd like to find a nice balance to replace my OEM pipes which are scuffed, dented, and rusting.

I like loud(er) pipes, but I don't want to wake the neighborhood up every time I roll out to work.

On my ironhead, drag pipes are both obnoxious AND acceptable (to me anyway).

As far as the pipes in the OP's pic, they look like they would cause the motor to run hot and probably burn up the exhaust valves. Those aren't pipes, they're barely headers.

Obnoxious. And you lose low end torque. There was a time when I didn't care if I pissed people off with the "hey, look at me, I'm such a bad ***" attitude, but I grew up.

I've riden with guys with those type of pipes.

You asked my opinion. Obnoxious and not acceptable. And people wonder why non-riders hate us.

There are a lot of pipes on the market that would fit your needs. What I did when I wanted new pipes for my Springer, I just spent time looking online, going to my local Indy shop and looking/listening to every set of pipes that I could and that's how I picked out my new pipes. I live in a small country town where it is so quiet at times, that I swear that a person can hear a bird fart from a block away. One little trick that I use to not **** off my neighbors is when I leave, I don't act like a punk kid with his first new toy and rev the throttle when I leave and then complain when they get into trouble. I try to keep the revs down until I get away from my neighbors. I can honestly say that after 12 years of doing this, nobody has complained yet and everybody's happy.

If you want to contribute to your own permanent hearing loss, these are for you.

Sometimes, we are our own worst enemy.
