Default Gear lube in primary?

I'm just wondering if I can run gear lube in my primary? The reason I'm asking I recently did a all bearing replacement through the primary and transmission. When I got done everything worked great except I had a drip and I do mean drip but I could smell it on the exhaust so I went back in and and replaced the inner primary seal no main shaft seal not being 100% sure where the leak was coming from. Now I'm 100% sure it was the inner primary seal. I just got back from a 200 mile ride as I went to put the bike away after sitting for at least an hour I saw a drip. My thinking is if I use gear lube in the primary would the thicker lube de less likely to drip? Now I know some would say one drip the size of a dime is normal and don't worry about it but I guess I just can't let it go

Less likely to drip... And less likely to properly lube the primary bearings and other primary stuff. Didn't harley using heavier gear oil in the trans to lower noise cause the ipbs to fail?

Don't forget using something that is ok for wet clutches.

I would think a gear lube in the primary would cause some hard clutch action, engagements -disengagements because of the lube in the clutch plates. Are you using the stock primary chain automatic adjuster? Just curious.

Re-think your incorrect thinking about gear lube. You shouldn't have any leaks.
Maybe your dime size leak is from left over oil you didn't get cleaned off from your first issue. Good Luck. Let's know if you find the problem.

Yes I'm using the stock adjuster just changed it when I had it torn down. Maybe you are right about left over oil I just went and checked it again after sitting for hours and no leaks.
