I noticed alot of bikes on the road today on the 3 hour drive home from work and alot of bikes on the trailer! Reminds me of going to a rally here several years back me and a couple friends ride out it was around 350 miles one way not exactly a long hard ride. However on the way there we was passed by this huge motor home with two harleys on the trailer in tow! Normaly I wouldn't think much about this but later that day while we was walking around we happened to bump into the two riding those bikes and they was telling how long and hard there ride was getting there and how great it felt to get some miles on there bikes and under there belts! Now is it just me or does it really burn anyone else's butts seeing and hearing stuff like this? I have no problem with someone trailering a bike and then riding it when they get there but how hard is it really to say hey we trailered this b**ch up here and rode it into town now let's have fun?

 

Most of the people that I know have never hauled their bikes on a trailer, they've ridden the entire distance because to them, that's part of the experience. Having said that, I try to stay open minded and if a person feels the need to trailer their bikes, than so be it but at least man up and say so.

 

Exactly not hard to man up! I've had bikes on a trailer and in a pickup twice once for a piston blown up and another time for a stator failure but even if I did trailer to a event I see no shame in just saying so and going on!

 

I don't get it either. I trailer a lot, for a lot of reasons. I'm not the least bit ashamed of it. In fact, many would be envious; I trailer to Sturgis from FL every year because I'm going for the entire summer and need more than a bike can carry. I trailer to some events in FL just so I can bring my dogs and they have a nice air conditioned place to stay while we're out riding. Reasons like that. Oh and the biggest reason; I'm 67 years old, retired, not missing any meals, and I don't justify anything I do with anyone but myself.

 

If I could afford it, and hopefully some day I can, I'd love to have a big old motor home pulling my bikes on a trailer as we travel the country. And I'll brag about it to anyone who wants to listen, not lie about how my bikes got there. I guess some guys feel the need to lie about things to compensate for their short-comings.

 

OP, I'd suggest you take the emotional energy and time you're investing in worrying about what others do and spend it on your family, friends, a worthwhile charity, etc.

 

I ALWAYS trailer my bikes. Keeps the miles down to less than 15K per year on each bike.

Hey wait, I don't have a trailer??? That must explain why I average nearly 15K on both bikes annually???

Oh well, guess I only have to worry about me and MY bikes.

 

IMO, when you come across these situations, you never know their story so...worry about your own "3-feet" of immediate/personal space and you'll be much better off.

 

well, if you look out your window this weekend, you just may see me passing by with my pickup pulling a trailer with 2 bikes on it headed to california from louisiana. sure, i'd love to ride there, but i can do 1600 miles in 2 days in my truck a whole lot easier than doing it on the bike. by pushing it out there in my truck, it'll give us more time to ride while we're there.

i see no shame in trailering to get somewhere. it's not like getting on the interstate and blasting it out for 1200, 1500, or more miles.
