Morning all. Just got my second parking ticket in less than two weeks for parking my bike on the street under a Dowco Guardian cover because of rain. I am getting pissed, because I park legally and the only reason I cover the bike is because of precipitation. Does anyone here have any insight regarding use of a cover when parked in New York City? I am looking up the NYS VTL as well as any codes or laws in effect in New York City.

What's the parking ticket allege you did?

 

If IM reading this right... I ahve my buddy right here who's NYPD and something is amiss bc you cant get ticketed for having a cover. There has to be something else..

 

Post the violation and the section of code that you are being ticketed for.

 

About the only thing I can think off would be if the license plate isn't visible, but, as 14GuineaPig mentioned, post the code section and what the Officer wrote.

I'm guessing you failed to move the bike on street cleaning days.

 

A- they do not like covers on bikes or cars because they can not see the plates or tags
B- I have had them lift my cover to check, never got a ticket for the actual cover.
C- So they gave you a ticket because they could not see your plate, but then lifted the cover to see the plate and issue a ticket to your plate!?!?!?
D- Dude you got a ticket for something else, the cover just pissed them off

I'm surprised someone hasn't stolen your bike, your cover and the ticket.

 

If I were you I'd feel like I won the lottery if I went down in the morning and my bike, cover and ticket were still there, or any of the three.
