No more brownies, they are now all NYPD, just Traffic Division. It is the job, write tickets and make City $$$$.

Too much energy and thinking put into trying to avoid what's legal.

Thanks to everyone that responded. I was more curious why after almost 20 years of having my bikes on NY city streets and covered to protect from rain/snow, this is now an issue. Was wondering if anyone else out there in NYC was having the same experience and it does not seem to be the case.

Renting garage space is the easy answer, though it is not cheap and therefore not an option for me. Modifying the cover is an option and I will look into that. Leaving the rear of the bike exposed so that the plate is visible sort of defeats the purpose of the cover when it is raining. I like the idea of putting a copy of the plate on the outside of the cover and I may just try that as it is the easiest option for now.

As for dumping on NYC, there is no need. We live here by choice, it is a fantastic place to live that does have its challenges as does any other place. Nowhere is perfect, and each place has its own issues that may be unique to that place.

I just wouldn't live in a place like that.

I live in a small town in Ohio, everyone knows everyone. The only people who get tickets here are people who aren't FROM here. And we don't pay for parking, ever.

I'm not so sure a copy of the plate will be any good. The city could still take a peek under the cover to verify you have a current plate. Seems best in the long run would be a clear isinglass window. (The clear vinyl windows used for campers and boat enclosures). Good Luck
