Default Help picking out earbuds.

I've Googled this topic to death and I can't find what I'm looking for. What earbuds do you use while riding? I want a pair that doesn't break the bank, that has a mic and controls on the cord and is compatible with my iphone and additionally, placement needs to be in-ear.

Wireless might work, but I don't want the battery going dead during a long day and controlling the volume under my helmet is necessary.

I'm not interested in answering the phone while using them, but it would be nice to have that option off the bike.

I find websites that list the top picks and then go to Amazon to search and the ratings are poor, etc. Tell me what you use.

Thanks!!

I literally just bought these. Sound is really good. They'll get better after breaking them in. I just bought comply isolation tips for them to get even better sound. For the price, they are very good. I guess I would consider myself an amateur audiophile. They won't win competitions, but to combat wind noise and road noise at 75 mph, they will be just fine.

Reading that over made me think I was coming off as some snob, I am not, hahaha. I just appreciate solid sounding music that is not muffled. Simply put, it will be pretty hard to replicate the same sounds you'd hear on your home theater, in your earbuds on a bike. But they do a decent job for sure. Good luck.

I have the Harley-Davidson wireless earbuds. Yes they're battery powered, but the battery lasts many hours on a charge. Got them for free as a part of a dealer promotion, but they sound quite good. Not as good as my full size Bluetooth headphones, but really good for earbuds.

I dont wear wear them for riding, though, as it's illegal to wear headphones in both ears in NY.

Also, if you have a newer iPhone with the lightning port for your audio jack, you would have to use the adapter that came with it. Then any 3.5mm headphones you have will fit. Otherwise, its the stock headphones or bluetooth. That I know of anyway.

Absolutely awesome bluetooth earbuds for $30. Holds a charge for about 6-7 hours and you don't have to run them at wide open volume to hear music at highway speeds. They do a great job blocking out wind noise. I'm able to set them about 1/2 volume and can still here my surroundings and my music. Plus, magnetic buds turn them into a necklace.

I'd recommend Shure SE112 - link and full name below.

I bought these for the express purpose of wearing on the bike and in airplanes. They are sound isolating, so you really cut the ambient noise and don't have to blast the volume to hear the music over the pipes. I have no complaints about sound quality.

They come with several size in-ear silicone things, so you can get a comfortable fit. The don't stick out too far from your ear, so you can get a helmet over them pretty easily. The cords are pretty heavy duty and tangle resistant; they've proven to be pretty rugged. The cords also longer than most; I find that pretty convenient. Finally, the controls are large enough and snappy enough that using them even with winter gloves isn't difficult.

Also - the cord length from ear to mic is generous. I've found that if I cup the mic in hand I can have a brief phone conversation and even use Siri (not always 100% effective though) even at highway speeds.

I've had my pair for about 18 months. A bargain at $49.

Thank you all for your input and for taking the time to share with me. This info is very helpful. I'm going to read up on the suggestion and I'm determined to get some this week.

Pothole, your offer is very sweet! I just have some concerns with compatibility with using the controls if it was made for Samsung. I'll read up on the ones that come with your phone and see if it will work with mine. Again, very generous! I'll let you know

When you say "won't break the bank", what kind of price range are you looking at?

I'm comfortable with under $50.
