HD does not make thier helmets, if you are looking for a particular style you can find it cheaper without the HD logo on it somewhere else.

HJC makes the Jet helmet. I have a CL-33 by HJC. Same helmet as Jet but without HD logos. Paid $89.95. HD helmets is $150.00

I wear Bell shorty, but my son has an HD, and my wife has the HD Jet II, which she loves. I agree they are pricey, but if it fits and you like it, it is worth it. No one else had a lid with the features of the Jet II (3/4 w/ flip up shield). If I didn't have so many lids already, I would buy an ACC.

So whats the deal with these novelty helmets? seems like they are the only helmets that sit low and dont look like your could receive satelite transmissions! i like the bell drifters, but I dont want to spend $90 on the internet to find out how it fits, is proportioned, etc.

Im in AZ so we have an Adult Choice law here. I love riding no helmet, but wisdom says a helmet of any kind is better and given the choice, Id like to get a novelty helmet (plus Id like for all my friends to stop bitching at me about it). I have seen a few helmets advertized as DOT approved, yet have a low profile. Do these really exist? And as far as materials on the noveltys, is it better to have fiber glass or plastic. Logic says fiber glass, but I have no idea.

thoughts?

Check the fit of HD helmets each style is made by someone else for HD. HJC, KBC etc.... Find the HD helmet you like and see who makes it. IF you want to save some money by it from the maker if it is the same style.

I have a HD jet 3/4 with the clear face shield. I really like it. Fits well...nice air vents. Worth the $$ IMO.
Yeah, I have one of them and I have to agree that it is a nice helmet. I only use it for long trips though, use my shorty around town. I just bought a dark face shield for it and now it is super cool!

HJC makes most of the HD helmets.

If you like half helmets, I suggest an ACC helmet.(headtrip)
If you like 3/4s helmets... HJC or such
Full helmets.. some modular one might be good.

Get the Harley do-rag. It is cheaper, lighter and much more comfortable than the helmet.

I three helmets and one is a HD half helmet. It's a nice helmet and I really like it. I believe HJC makes the helmets for HD.BUT........HDhelmets run small so make sure to go a sizelarger. Every helmet I've ever owned has been an XL, but withHDI need anXXL. Good luck.

I also have a 3/4 HD Jet with a face sheild and like it on the highway. In town I would like a helmet without a sheild so am thinking about getting an Ultra Jet. Mine also has the vents but I don't seem to get much air flow. Have thought about cutting groves in the foam to try and get more air flow. Wearing a rag also helps even though I have short hair. Anyone else notice this?

Harley Helmets are good helmets, but lots of other companies make great helmets too. You could always get some harley decals to put on it that way your not paying the HD tax.

Oh and if you dont mind paying and you want a full face this helmet is freaking sweet!!!

You can find them cheaper some places online. I hear these helmets give you Storm Trooper powers...
