Caught a bird right in the old Adams apple on the interstate Now i use the windshield on runs and take it off for around town. Couldn;t speak for about two weeks. kept thinking what it would have been like if the beek went in my throat.. I love the wind in my face but at higher speeds those birds hurt

I don't like windshields but I do like farings.
I like farings because they tend to follow the lines of the bike and can actually help cut the wind.
Windshields however look ugly and tend to be just a wall of plastic that your bike has to force through the wind.
The group I ride with has only one bike with a windshield and I get tired of hearing him tell us how nice his shield is and wish he would STFU. I do also see those that ride long trips with out the shield as being a little more hardcore, I like the wind in my face, bugs in my beard. I travel with a fullface helmet for heavy rain and hail.
The thing is every activity has those that are a little more hardcore than others doing the same type of thing. The best example I can think of is 4x4 rockcrawlers, you can put some 36" tires on some stock axles and have a blast, or you can go hardcore and do 44" tires, dana60 axles, lockers, exo-skeleton(external roll cage), 4 point harness, ect, ect. and be a hardcore crawler.
To those that got all defensive because someone said windshields suck,
grow some skin.

I agree. I hate windshields! Tried them several times on different bikes in the rain and the sunshine. The rain was the worse. Now you have to look through water on your glasses and water on the windshield.

I hated windshields too,when I first put mine on. I felt like I could not see right. I left in on for a few days and changed my mind. I like it. I do take it off for summer, but will put it back on for trips.
