Personally I think that is one of the best things Harley has come up with; the detachable windshield. I generally ride without it around town, but put it back on for longer/highway rides. Folks who like bugs snapping them in the face at 70 plus miles an hour are far tougher than I am. I had mine off over the weekend for in town riding, and kept it off for the ride to work yesterday. (Only a short highway blast on the way...) After work however I took the scenic route home, and quickly remembered why I keep it on for highway rides. When a big, greasy bug slams you in the cheek at 115 kmph, you sure wish the old plexiglass had been there to take the hit!![:@]

Like them, use them.. don't like them, don't use them, but making derogatory commentsabout others for their choice in order to make your own opinion seem better, IMO is childish & totally unneccessary.

You know I used to be dead against them until I bought my Heritage. On long rides it really makes a difference. I would agree it takes some getting used to but once you do the benefits become very apparent. Especially when that big @ss bird laid a huge dump that it my windshield instead of my face!

Motorcycles suck! I only have one to pick up chicks. Then I take 'em for a ride in a REAL mean machine,my Geo Metro. [:'(]

My winshield saved my life or at least my face. A truck was in the left lane just in front of me and kicked up a peice of tire on the road and if the windshield would not have been there I would have ate it. I dont leave home without it.

I just re-read all of these responses, and noticed that if you substitute the word "helmet" for the word "windshield", this sounds just like the "Great Helmet Debate".
Who the hell cares? Ride what you want, when you want, how you want. Just ride careful and ride sober (now I'm going to start another argument on the "sober" reference).
