GPS!

RE: GPS!
Does not take long at all. Remove the chrome trim around the headlight. Remove the 8 screws around the outer edge and then disconnect the wire from behind the headlight. Not sure of the exact size of the spade connectors but they were pretty small. 1/8" maybe.

RE: GPS!
The current street price difference (on-line) between the 450 and 550 is about $150. Beyond the technical differences which I think are just Blue Tooth, traffic, and XM here is the difference between what comes in the box -
450:
[ul][*]zumo 450[*]Preloaded City Navigator® NT for North America (full coverage)[*]MapSource® City Navigator North America NT DVD (full unlock)[*]Motorcycle mount with mounting hardware[*]Motorcycle power cable[*]USB cable[*]Security screwdriver[*]Carrying case[*]Owner's manual on disk[*]Quick reference guide[/ul]
550:
[*]zūmo 550[*]Preloaded City Navigator® NT for North America or Europe (full coverage)[*]MapSource® City Navigator North America NT DVD or City Navigator Europe NT DVD (full unlock)*[*]Motorcycle mount with mounting hardware[*]Vehicle suction cup mount with integrated speaker**[*]Dashboard disk[*]Carrying case[*]AC charger[*]Vehicle power cable[*]Motorcycle power cable[*]USB cable[*]Security screwdriver[*]Custom caps (silver and black)[*]Garmin stickers[*]Owner's manual on disk[*]Quick reference guide
For me it was worth the $150 delta...YMMV

RE: GPS!
Up here the price difference is over 200 dollars, and I definitely don't need the Bluetooth, and have no plans for use in a car. Also, the prices are quite a bit higher up her to begin with. With taxes included, the 550 would cost me well over $1000.00! The 450 will come in well under $800.00 (which is STILL a hell of a lot!). I totally agree with the YMMV comment, hehehe...
Cheers!

RE: GPS!
I bought a Garmin Quest2 back in February. I suse it in the car on a trip, otherwise it is on the bike or in the saddle bag. It's my first GPS ever, and I love it. If you go through harley it's a lot more expensive. I went through (there was another post about this place somewhere) Abe's of Maine. They had the best price I found at the time, and had no problem with delivery time, and it has been flawless. I found the mounting and wiring kit on ebay brand new. Everything costs me about $600.

RE: GPS!
When you guys get your new 550's be sure to go to Garmins website and download the latest version of firmware for the unit. It is currently 3.30 which was made available for download April 26th. The upgrades are free for the downloading and add alot of new features to the units.
I just came back from Rolling Thunder and the 550 was a life saver in Washington.
Here is the link to get the firmware:

RE: GPS!
I recently purchased 2 Navman GPS systems. One for my daughter in the Navy, one for my streetglide. Hers was stolen out of her car before she could take it out of the box. Mine fell off my bike on a three lane at 65 coming back from Americade Friday 06/08. The guy driving the car behind me that ran over what was left of it, stopped at the next light and apologized for running it over. I love Nav, especially on a bike, but need to rethink what is best. (I custom built the mount for the bike gps and guess I should stick to doing office work).
