Hey 82flh, not sure if you know but those lines on the bolt head indicate the bolt grade, and from that you can determine how strong it is. You have 6 lines on the bolt so that makes it a grade 8 bolt. One of the strongest bolts. You did good in not skimping out with cheap bolts. No worries at all about that thing going anywhere. Blue Loctite should be enough. Red needs heat to break loose. I use blue on anything that goes on the bike and never had a problem with a bolt or nut coming loose.

By the way, that is a hefty and solid piece or metal there. It takes some good tools to work a piece of metal that thick.

I only use red Loctite on internal motor/driveline parts I don't expect to touch again/can't reach, like the engine sprocket nut.

Everything else, I use proper lock nuts, lock washers or blue Loctite (rarely) as appropriate. Truth be told, as an tool designer/amateur mechanic, I'm more concerned with being able to take something apart "next time" than worrying about it coming loose.

For the record, I calculate the tensile strength of a 3/18-16 grade 8 bolt to be 11,500 pounds. The shear force is 7,000 pounds. I think you'll be okay.

Yeah, you can lift your truck off the ground with that plate and bolt.
