Sporty oil pumps are stupid simple. Pull the pump and fill the inlet with oil and spin the pump over by hand, oil should come out the other side. If not, get a service manual and find out if your pump is together properly.
I would replace the suction line from the tank to the pump while I was at it.

My game plan for tomorrow night. Pull the exhaust off. take off the primary. Remove the starter. Replace the hose from tank to oil pump. Check to see if flow increases from what I have now. Fill pump, spin pump. Observe if oil comes out of pressurized feed line. If it does put it all back together and start her up. If not. take out oil pump and check to see if everything is operational.
I have a pretty good idea of where I need to go.
Thanks for your help and everyone elses. will post if solution is found
It was the oil pump. The shaft was screwed up because a retaining ring broke.
My indy had a spare shaft laying around so I rebuilt the pump and she is running
All of the missing metal from the end of that shaft would be a major concern for me.
Good luck getting everything going.
Good call.
Wish I had agreed earlier. now it is time to pull the top end and go fishing.
I have the cam chest off and again. no signs of metal. But I know it is there
