That's funny. Me and my to be wife got jaywalking tickets in downtown Columbia on Main Street in 1973.

Well, I finally got around to calling the hotel and getting a reservation yesterday afternoon. As I was finishing up with the nice lady on the phone I asked her the most important question. “Will my motorcycle be safe in your parking lot?” Her response was, “Yes, once you arrive we will show you where to park. You will park it under the portico where someone will have eyes on it the entire time it is here.” I have to say, I feel better about leaving it in the parking lot now.
Thanks for all the replies. I hope this works out for the good. If not, I guess that is why I pay insurance.

As you have found out, that is not a bad place to stay. I have several contractors and visiting employees that stay there frequently.

If you stay off the Interstates you can find some interesting places to ride to.

There is a Cycle Gear at the St. Andrews exit on 26 about a mile from Doubletree. Harley Haven is about 8 miles on 26 towards Spartanburg. Good people at the dealership ask for Jesse.

Watch "Live PD" on the A&E channel Friday's and Saturday's at 9pm. They feature the city and their law enforcement agencies.

While I don't live in Columbia currently, I've been hanging around it for over 40 years. Went to college, met my wife and had our first kid there. Great town and the crime/drug/gang problem has never been an issue for me. Of course, I don't go looking for it.

You will be in a relatively safe area, but, like any hotel close to the interstate, park somewhere well lit near the entrance like the rep said.

If you have some free time, head over to the Vista. Lots of good bars and restaurants. If you would like some suggestions, just PM me. Will be glad to help.

Thanks but I don't think I will have a lot of time for sight seeing this trip.
