Default Bug season kicking in up north here

While it's nice to shed the double jackets, heavy gloves, and wooly cap that I used while riding the past few months (Jan, Feb, not much of March), this past weekend, and much noticed today....the recent warm weather in the past week is making the bug population explode. Just did a 15 mile jaunt up I385 to a client..wow, peppered.

I think this year will be worse than usual, except for March, it was really a mild winter for the most part. Warmer than usual for the most of it.

A few bugs wouldn't be so bad, if they all didn't seem to be made out of superglue.

I live 35 west of Boston.
Got 5" of snow 10 days ago on April 1st.
And now 77 degs. yesterday and already 83 degs. at 12:30pm today.
The little "gnats" and "May flies" will be out this afternoon.

No mayflies here in the Ozarks thank god. We do have our share of gnats, mosquitoes, June bugs and some others.

Especially with the lack of a winter this year, it's worse...if that's possible.

Oh yeah? Try it with a half helmet. Them big bastards will leave a mark on ya... Had one just miss the top of my windshield and splatter on my forehead, a perfect hit. Dead center in the one inch space between the rim of my glasses and the bottom lip of my helmet.

Ouch! I reckon that musta left ya with a "third eye" for a spell.

And THAT my friend, is one of the reason I wear a full face.

A lot of tree fruit and tree nuts are grown very near to where I live. In the early spring, beekeepers bring beehive boxes out to the orchards. The surrounding countryside is alive with bees. And then citrus pollination is twice per year.
