Wall Drug is very.... touristy to put it nicely. You could come in on 90 and go south at Wall and take the Badlands loop to Hwy 44 then into Rapid. That's a scenic route.

Just about anyway you go is about the same long *** haul through the prairie.

Just make sure to fill up when your 50 miles from empty, or sooner.

But, like they said once you get there its great.

It's only a 13 hour ride, a two day trip for the wife and I... However, we stopped beating ourselves up on our bikes for days to get somewhere to ride, now we trailer in comfort, ride when we get there. Assuming you have time, I will suggest any route keeping off the interstate. I can honestly say I have toured (not ridden through) most of the lower 48. No matter where you are, and where you are going, here are two FACTS to never forget:
1. You have NOT really seen a road until you have ridden it both directions (do not forget this when you get to the Black Hills).
2. You never, ever see a damn thing from an interstate.

A favorite photo of my wife, taken from the roof of my toy hauler on 212 in SD... Been on I90 many times and never saw sunflowers, and there are some 300 million acres of them from ND to Texas! Stay off the Interstate!

Take 90. See the corn Palace and the Kongo Club in Mitchell, stop at Al's Oasis on the river and get some Pancakes, see the Pioneer car Museum in Murdo.

I go to Sturgis every year, this year we are going early and through North Dakota and hitting the rally on the way back from Yellowstone. I'm bummed I can't take 90, it's the best part of the trip. Like mentioned, just the amount of bikes on the interstate has your anticipation through the roof for hours before the black hills.

I've ridden the entire US, and I'd take that hot, windy, grassy brown prairie stretch of 90 any day over some toll road traffic jam out east.
