I still think it's a cool looking helmet, much like the current helmet worn by our military, but I'm not going to wear one while I'm riding.

In an attempt to clarify what I meant by "makes you just as bad as Saddam Hussein" I was only referring to those who wear one knowingly for what a real German helmet of World War 2 represents to many. There is a noticeable difference in out troop helmet and a World War 2 German helmet. It like quite a few other words and objects seem to want to be used by some people to make themselves fill superior over and attempt to terrorize others with. This is what I think is wrong here. I probably thought the helmet was cool when I was a kid. As an adult I think it should only be in a museum lest we ever forget the evil it represents. I was just giving my opinion on the first question of this thread by 'akenaten' on 'What do you think of a German Helmet'. In my original quote I said this is a free country and I was just saying my opinion and how I fill, not how you should be or fill.

As was stated several pages back, swastikas on bikers really had no political motive. Meant to "**** off the squares". Plain and simple. Yes, the symbol is ages old, but it's been so ingrained in our minds with the ***** and, at least in our lifetimes, it always will be. How many people are around now from 3,000 years ago? How many are still around from the 20s, 30s & 40s? Lots! I believe that for everyone alive today, the swastika is a symbol of hate. By the way...Ed "Big Daddy" Roth marketed fiberglass German helmets in car and bike magazines in the late 60s. "One size fits all". $2.99

Guys........this is a three-year old thread.

Many newer ones on the same topic have transpired. Granted, they are not full of anti-Semitic conspiracy theory or attempts to brand Hitler as a misunderstood spiritual mystic.

But still.....

You may want to research that statement a little. The German army did have some advanced weapons that keeps the History channel in programs. However they were also a largely horse drawn army that was using WWI bolt action rifles.

For my generation, a biker wearing a **** helmet reminds me of Laugh In. Well me anyway.

The swastika was also used for a pre-**** party women's hockey team in Canada. It is also found in some of the native american folk art.
