"German" helmets

You're right. Sonny Barger in his book "Hell's Angel" offers his recollection of when the wearing of **** uniform regalia and decorations became popular, and which riders it was that popularized it. It certainly wasn't returning vets. As you point out, it was worn to incite outrage among the "squares."

That crooked cross has found it's way into all sorts of places throughout history. Not all of them bad. There is little doubt in my mind, however that it will forever be linked with the consummate evil of the Third Reich.

Helmet
Fill sorry for those who ride one out of ignorance of what it represents. Even more so for those who ride knowing what it represents. Its a free country and that what out solders are giving their lives for. Someone who wears a German helmet is as bad as Iraq's Hussein Saddam was.

Answer to your question.
To answer your question, 'No I no longer fill sorry for Saddam, he got what he deserved in this life."
I do not think you under the meaning of sorry that I use when I express it for evil people who want to take advantage of others.

When I was a kid (before I knew about the holocaust) I would watch WWll movies and always thought the German helmet was the coolest looking helmet. It wasn't a **** helmet. It was a trimmed down version of the WWl helmet. It was really a Wehrmacht helmet. I don't know how someone can think that wearing one makes you just as bad as Saddam Hussein. I still think it's a cool looking helmet, much like the current helmet worn by our military, but I'm not going to wear one while I'm riding.
