I've liked those old ServiCars since I was a little boy, when you'd see them on Chicago streets almost daily - police, delivery, and the coolest for a little guy, the ice cream vendors with an insulated trunk.
I don't miss cork floats, they'd get heavier and you'd have to reset the level. Once they got a few years on them, hell, even a year, some of them were just part of the 1000 mile tuneup, if not sooner. I think by the end of 1969 I had a bike that would still run ok for 1000 miles...

I hear ya on the cork floats. Back in the day, for me, a thousand miles was a LONG ways to go without messing with whatever my ride was.

That is a LOT OF OIL. Multiple quarts on the road.
Coming up to the stop, I did NOT realize it was oil and my front brakes did not slow me down...tire just slid.
I'd like to think that if I was on one of my 2 wheelers I would have been more aware of what was on the roadway.
Truth is, I'm not sure I would have been.
It is not unusual to see a line of wet on the road like this, and it is almost always water leaking out of the bed of a pick-up truck.
As you can see from the red -------------- line I put in this photo, it started way down the road.
It's been a long time since I've run across a big oil spill on the road...sort of had left my awareness list. It is back on there now!!!

It was after dark....
...and COLD when I headed home last night.
Kevin
I doubt it. There is a house on the corner...but am friendly with them...
More likely it was a vehicle with a bad leak...driving or being towed.
It was oil, not diesel fuel.

Some years none, most years 2-5 inches. Most of the time it does not stick, and if it does, usually not more than a few days.
Back 20+ years ago we got more, and it stuck more. I remember hunting in 10+ inches of snow, for over a week straight.
For lows we might get into the teens a few days a year...mostly it is in the 20's & 30's during the cold time.
We had several nights this last week in the 20's, but it is 60 right now, and most of next week will be in the 60's with lows in the 40's.

Decided to change out my License Plate Bracket and Run/Brake light today-
Getting all the wire exposed to leave some going to my turn signals, and the other wires to go to my plate bracket (which is going to be mounted off of the primary).
As I was working on it, I realized I want to go ahead and change my turn signals, front and rear, also.
So I started digging into the wiring, most of which I did on this bike 5+ years ago...
...gonna finish up the new plate and run/brake install tomorrow. Then do the turn signals soon after.
A mini "Winter Upgrade" on the Sporty. lol

At Little Sturgis-
A couple on The Dragon-

Thank you. Most of the bikes are not what I would call "built"...mostly just heavily modified.
I don't know how many bikes I've done significant mods on over the decades...
I remember my first one...a mini-bike when I was 7-8 years old. lol
Just in the last few years I began documenting them with lots of photos...here are links to a few of them-
Sportster Winter Makeover https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...-makeover.html
Project 48 https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...s-of-pics.html
Dyna WG face lift https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...s-of-pics.html
Project Tri-Glide https://www.hdforums.com/forum/tri-g...s-of-pics.html
"Deluxe" Heritage https://www.hdforums.com/forum/softa...thank-you.html
and

I thought we did one on the Street Glide, but can't find it.
Two current ones' we working on are-
Ironhead https://www.hdforums.com/forum/sport...oto-heavy.html
