I've worked hard most of my life (now 58). This is the first item I've bought in all that time anywhere close to that kind of money. I'll be riding it until I'm incapable of riding. As far as the "bling" goes, my ride came with a lot of stuff. That said, my bride buys me cash cards for my BD or Christmas. I also have earned the extra money by working and getting the occasional bonus.
Being a dink couple, we've worked hard, saved a lot, set aside money in our 401Ks. It's called sacrificing a lot while we were younger. Now we can afford a toy or two. We're still frugal. This is the only indulgence I have and I deserve it.

 

Sacrificed, saved, lived modestly, quit smoking, bought almost everything except underwear used. Put 5 children through college and ensured I could contribute the maximum amount to my 401K and I had enough cash to take my wife out once a week before I even thought about buying a Harley Davidson. Then bought a used ’07 sportster and have added very few extra’s; what I have added I bought used and installed myself.

Oh yea, one more thing--I don't golf.

 

MOst of the add-ons on my bike were done over time.

Ok, gotta be honest -- being cute and having great "enticements" means never having to use my own money! Having great friends that all work on bikes, knowing plating people and making nice at the local HD dealership in order to get "employee discounts" helps with getting extras done at reasonable costs, if any.

Well, that and the fact my bike gets gently used parts because HIS bike gets all the new stuff.[:@]
