If my garage caught fire, I'd tip my Road King over to get my Super Glide out.

That's a cute saying, but not in the least accurate unless you are talking about a non rider. I don't dispute that dynas will have more ground clearance, but I can hit any corner I have ever seen at or above the speed limit on any softail I have ever owned or riden. In fact I have swapped bikes with several different folks, and ridden the same road we just rode without scraping to demonstrate to them that it can indeed be done if they ride a bit differently.

At our age, buy what looks good on you and parked on the street. Lot more detail and fine tuning went into a Softail for looks rather then handling... 1000 of $$ worth. That is not an opinion but the resulting look is of course.

I've ridden one softail in my life, a springer. It handled so bad. If I'm not speeding then I'm not riding. I remember when I had my buell some guy asked me how it handled, I said it handles great. I asked him how his softail handled(lowered front and rear), his answer was "it doesn't". Like I said conventional shocks win everyday.

So you are basing your opinions of how softails handle on one bike that the owner modified to perform less than ideally, and by an older softail springer that had a suspension from the early 20th century? I have no doubt that a dyna will typically outperform a softail, I also have no doubt that you have no idea what a softail is actually capable of doing, if handled by a capable rider, that has not modified his/her suspension in a negative manner.

All harley have suspension from the early 20th century, my dyna does too. The softail was a bone stock bad boy or something. I know Softails are great bikes, but a conventional shock setup is how I prefer it. Even the dyna has issues over 100mph in long sweepers with the rear wobbling, so it's not perfect. But I can improve a dynas rear way better and easier than a softail. I can increase travel and clearance of needed.

At 72 you deserve what makes you feel the best, and is most enjoyable for your ride. Get to the dealer and test ride them all.

People who are 70+ usually do not go 100mph on Harleys...How on earth do you think they got to 70!???

At 72 go with your heart the hell with make sense you do have to any more.

I need to introduce you to a friend of mine. I remember him telling me how he pulled his full face helmet off when a cop stopped him going around 120... Cop was astonished it was a 68 year old and not a 20 year old kid.
