Default New w/Bell Question

Thanks for the add, hoping i can be a positive member. I have a question about my bell. If my bike was bought with one and the previous owner made it a point that it came with bike and to keep it. Is it the same as someone giving me just the bell. I know its silly superstition, but also traditional.

You're going to get a variety of answers about this, both good and bad.

I look at it as a fun tradition/fad. The bell belongs to the person who put it on, since it was given to them, which is another part of the bell tradition. Get someone to give you one and you're set. Just my 2¢.

I wouldn't even consider buying a bike with someone else's bell on it. Nope, no way, not a chance.

It's not anything set in stone. It's all about how you feel about it. Like I said, you're going to get a variety of replies.

you bought the bike, so technically you bought yourself a bell too, bad juju. take that bell off, give it to another biker. PM me your details and I will send you a bell. problem solved, gremlins be damned

Based on the story that I read and what I personally believe, when a person cares about another rider, a bell is given to that person and the giver also attaches that bell to the bike to show how much they care and want them to be safe. I believe that if you buy a bike with somebody else's bell on it, it's not the same. According to the legend that I'm familiar with your'e not supposed to buy your own bell, which you are basically doing if the bike in question already has a bell on it but that's just how I see it and to each their own. .
