San Diego?

San Diego?
Booked a trip out of the cold and snow to Palm desert the end of the month.
Thinking of 3 or 4 day trips around the home base of Palm Desert.
Up and over the mountain to SD then up the coast? Is that a good ride? Pacific coast highway up to Malibu or close to it?
Ideas?
Just looking to tour, not in a hurry.
Thanks.

Those day trips are do able but they are long days in the saddle.
Too early to forcast the end of month weather. In PS, it could be 55 or 85. It'll cool off in the evenings regardless. Figure mid 40's.
PS to Malibu is a freeway blast along I-10 Westbound. Once you get to the coast, your "nice" ride begins.
If you find yourself along Hwy 1, try Neptune's Net for food. Just inland, up the hill from there is a little hamlet known as Cornell Calif. It has a place called The Rock Store. The food is crummy but the action is always banging on Sunday. Leno hangs out there a lot. See and be seen.
Down South in Orange County, you may find Cook's Corner banging too.
South some more in my playground. San Diego back roads and mountains. I rarely "cruise the beach" as the traffic makes it a chore. It's best before 10am.

^^^ I would also second riding the mountains. Riding the coast is nice, but traffic can be a problem. You can ride from PS all the way to Julian (cool little town in East San Diego County) taking back roads (most in the mountains). Like mentioned above, Cook's Corner is a cool spot with good riding to and from. If I was set on riding the coast, I would stay south of Los Angeles.

Justy got back to NY..
Yep, had a nice time riding.
Stayed near Joshua park Tuesday night, We rode thru the Joshua state park to the Salton Sea,then up to Palm Desert...I had to change out my Heritage to a RK...shield support was broken. Stayed over at Hard Rock. Thursday was a ride up and over the mountain to Oceanside. Really nice road. Plenty of twisties. Friday was down the PCH then up to the mountains (Julian looked awesome!). Wish we had time to stop longer in Julian but had a deadline to meet that day. Friday was just as good...Plenty of twisties and lots of Desert riding. Dropped of the rentals to Eagle late Friday night. Just shy of 600 miles on 3 days of riding. Left this morning it was 67 degrees. Got home a little while ago to 11 degrees.
