I had a 12 SG in black denim and blacked out every piece of chrome with gloss black powdercoat. I loved it and thought the gloss/flat contrast gave it some depth. You'll never be able to match the denim finish so by going gloss you avoid the "close, but not quite" issue. I will try to attach a couple of old photos so you can get a sense. Hope that helps.
