Default Will it fit?

Strictly out of curiosity, anyone know if the 2017 Milwaukee 8 engine will bolt into a pre 2017 touring frame without major mods?

Did they change motor mounts etc. to prevent retro fitting, etc.?

I was told at a dealership it is not a bolt in conversion.

I reckon it would be cheaper to buy a bike with an M8 engine.

Believe you are right, cases and the primary's have both been redesigned and changed from what I see at the minimum. Suspect the whole drivetrain would have to be swapped with some frame tweaks to accommodate it.

I figured as much. Nowadays everyone follows Apple's business model so that if you want the 'latest greatest" upgrade, you need to buy up to new.

If Harley goes with the rumored shared frame throughout their entire lineup, there will be very few (if any) interchangeable parts.

If it's a "shared frame" I would think a lot would be interchangeable

I don't know a thing about the M8, having only ridden it once, but I think I can say with reasonable certainty that it will NOT bolt in.

I read a pretty thorough write up on the M8 and it said specifically that they won't swap.
