A young man once backed his truck into my bike while it was parked in my Indy's parking lot. The kid started trembling with fear. Bike had a broken brake lever, mirror, tiny but readily noticeable dent on the gas tank along with some scratches here and there. My Indy is gem of a guy and said he is liable since it happened on his property if the kid doesn't have insurance etc. I just told him to replace the brake lever, I had plenty of mirrors collected over the years in my garage. That was it. The respect I gained that day in my books is priceless. To this day he refuses to charge me for anything(I pay him though!!).
Dealer dropped my LRS and dented the tank, scuffed the left mirror, and scuffed the clutch lever. They fixed the tank, replaced the clutch lever and mirror, had custom air brush work I wanted done, are going to cover my 10K service, and put me on a rental until it was fixed. Also, when I got hit on their bike they swapped it out with a different rental within an hour.
My dealership dropped something on my Vance & Hines pipes. They delivered it home and I saw it as it came off their trailer. I called them immediately, the delivery guy took photos and they ordered me new pipes and replaced them the following week.
Takes me back. When I was 16 I worked summers at a Porsche dealer. We used to undo the speedo and take the cars home and to lunch. Sometimes if the cars were left for over the weekend they ended up being "raced". A few times the cars got wrecked, but we had a body shop on site so they'd get fixed and if the owner caught it they would say it got bumped moving it around the lot. I feel bad now but I had poor impulse control. Later I got married and volunteered for the Army. Sometimes I worry.
