I haven't had to make the switch, but I own both. If I had to pick one, it might be the Street Glide, but it would depend on which day you asked me. It also might be the Heritage. Tough choice. Don't decide without having spent significant time on both.

Yes I went from a 2014 FLSTC to a 2016 FLHXS last July. I loved the Heritage but could not have both. The first thing that I noticed on the Street Glide was my legs felt cramped due to the change of riding position. But I got used to the Street Glide real quick and I'm loving it. Better suspension, dual disk front brakes and a lot more.

Yeah, the Heritage has more legroom. It's just a nice comfortable bike right off the showroom floor imo. That said, I love my SGS and have made changes to make it super comfortable. Tall Boys lowering brackets for the boards was a great start.

The other obvious thing is the weight difference. At the stop light the Heritage feel a lot lighter (because it is) Once you get rolling that difference isn't as apparent.

I would test ride one (Street Glide) if you haven't already. They're not for everyone.

Lean angle on the SG is better. Might not be a big deal if you only ride flat roads, but if you ride in the mountains it makes a difference. I loved my Softails (still own one), but I feel the touring platform is better than a Softail with bags. If you don't want a fairing, look at the RK. My.02.

I have a 2016 Street Glide Special. Prior bike was a Softail Deluxe.

Some times I'm glad I have the SGS, other times I really wish I had the Deluxe.

Take a test ride on the SGS, it will help you decide.

Went from a Heritage Classic to a 17 Street glide. No regrets..had some issues with the new bike that got straightened out and now own a Road Glide! Both ride great!

Same here. Traded my 13 Heritage for a 17 SGS. I loved the heritage, it was light, looked good and fun to ride. But the SGS is more nimble and stable feeling to me if that makes sense. It hugs the road better in corners. I knew as soon as I let out the clutch on my test ride that this was the bike I've been longing for.

Interesting, talked to a buddy of mine this.morning, and he has a street glide and is thinking of trading it in on a heritage. He likes the heritage ride better...

Sorry for the flip side comment BTW..

I like the Heritage, but I like the old school look. many of the things not liked about the Heritage can be corrected really easily & affordably, the dual front brake would be nice....but, put a PM brake caliper on & your good to go.

I don't think the glide is as comfy IMO. at least you have choices & many of them! good luck on what ever route you go!
