RE: Pathetic?
It dont matter what you ride just have to adjust your style to suit the bike. Hell back in 1978 I did close to 300 miles in a day on my Yamaha 50cc moped. Top speed of about 40mph
Of course at 16 I didnt know any better.

I don't think so Skip. I think we are being asked if the top of the line touring model which costs somewhere around 22-23 thousand dollars will make the trip from California to West Virginia.

My first cross country trip was on a 79 sporster. I didn't know any better and had a great trip. The 2.2 gal tank kept me alert.
I would think thatguys riding Ultras would be more prone to longer trips.I thinkmany people buys Harleys cause they think its cool to have one, not because they like to ride. Maybe this guy, in the future will descover the joy of a long trip.

Hay don't pick on the 50 mile guy, I love these guys who buy new and ride very little and thenI can buy their 5 year old bikes with 4-5K on em and get them at a bargin price.
Man, last year I never got over 300 miles as the crow flys from my house and still put 17,000 miles on my Ultra.
Ultras are fun in the twistys after you get in shape to handle them all day. Mine isn't lowered and can lay way WAY over and not scrap. So the big Lady just rolls along and leans way over and pulls herself back up and lays way over the other way and pulls herself back up and man what a blast. So don't think the Electra Glides are just roll up the long straight miles either.
Remember even bycycles have been riden accross the country it is just a matter of how long you want to ride each day. I have rode cross Country on a Sportster several times some days I ride 500 miles and some days I ride 200 miles.
Nowadays the first order of business for any of my long LONG rides, is to throw the watch away and I get there when I get there!!
