Haven't seen a Harmon Girder front end in years. Very rare item...

They're still out there. The originals are getting harder to find though. I lucked into mine years ago. When I started the custom build, I put the word out that I was looking for something different for the front end. A buddy of mine who owned a shop called me about a week later. Told me he had found me a front end. This is what he showed me. When I asked how much, he told me he had an old Ironhead in the shop with a disassembled tranny. Put it back together and it was mine. I figured a couple hours of work was a fair price. Done and done.

I love it. Take your hands off the bars at speed and it holds a nice straight line. Good response to bumps and dips. The old telescopics would just flex. This thing actually responds to the road.

I lived in Sacramento back in 75/76.

Built a Hond 750 chopper with a Harmon Girder.

That was one of the first John Harmon built.

Sure wish I still had that bike.

I'm just outside of Roseville myself. Not far from the birthplace of the Harmon Girder.

Bill Holland is still building the next generation of Harmon Girders at Executive Choppers. He's temporarily shut down, but looking to relocate. Bill worked closely with John when he was still alive.

If I could get my hands on an original, I would build a bike around that. LOL

The good old days.....
