Even if you never buy a thing from them, you're doing them a favor.
AND you're buying used machines from people (at least some of them) who will go in and buy a new machine. The circle of life so to speak.

I see nothing to feel guilty about. I love firearms. I live very close to a Gander Mountain that has a good inventory but their prices are too high. I go in all the time to look, touch and handle to see what I like. Then I usually always buy at a small dealer a couple hours away for 20% less.

Agree, no reason for the post at all.

Talking I like to browse...

The nearest HD dealerships is a nice 20+ mile ride from home. About once a month or so I stop in, pour a cup of coffee and wander all over the showroom. Usually a salesperson will come over after a few minutes to chat.

I point out that they make more money off of the coffee pot than any bike in the line. Often my free cup of coffee ends up costing me $30 to $60 depending on what I need to pick up while there {parts accessories etc.}. They freely admit that browsers {with or without the cup of Joe}, often end up buying a new bike so it is all good.

I love my bike, have zero interest an in anything else much less buying new. The more I look at the new ones the more I love my 2010 Dyna SG.

I dont see anything to feel guilty about. You enjoy going to the dealership and talking bikes/riding with the employees and customers, I enjoy that myself. You bring your bike there for service and I am sure the dealership appreciates that, in addition my guess is in all those trips you make to the dealer you most likely walk out with some merchandise from them on many of the visits.

I'm feeling guilty about looking at bikes at dealers that aren't my HOG chapter dealer. How loyal do you have to be? Sometimes the price difference is measured in thousands between trade in and purchase. When I bought my 09 SG, it was from a dealer 75 miles away. They offered my way more on my 08 trade in. My local dealer wasn't even close. Looking again on the internet and again my dealer is more expensive. Would you feel guilty at the next HOG meeting ?

Look at it this way: buying a used HD might likely be helping the seller buy a new one.

I always buy new, for warranty especially. Any new or used bike will have some issues. Also, I buy and plan to keep the bike for many years so depreciation isn't a factor. My 2007 Ultra is now ten years old and still worth about 1/3 of the new price. I think that's a good deal. It is the one thing in my life that soothes my soul. How can you put a value on that?

I have the same opinion. The only pre-owned bike I would buy is from a guy at work. He has a 15 Road glide CVO.
1900 miles on it so yes it's a garage queen. He has had it over a year. Asked him why he never rides it to work... he said he didn't want it to get dirty!! I cracked up...

Not one bit. If it makes you feel any better take the Dealer license plate off and put there's on. Better yet tell them what you have been offered and see if they will match
