Stock Exhaust Modifications
Hello everyone!
I recently bought an 07 FLHR Road King. The stock exhaust sounds okay,
but I want a more throaty kind of sound. Is there any way to modify the existing exhaust without screwing up the fuel injection? (e.g. drill the baffling, run a rod down its throat?) I don't have the cash to go for the Rineharts just yet. Any ideas? I'm not too worried about "performance", I mean, heck, its a cruiser!

i bunched out the baffles on my 06 superglide before I got my slip-ons. made it a bit better, had a little popping. but it wasn't to bad. you can either punch them out, or drill them out. I think punching them gets all the disc out, but i think drilling will leave some restriction there.

I cant remember when, but i saw a post where a fellow had punched out his baffles on his fuel injected bike and it sounded like it lead to a lean condition.......i got stock pipes too but im waiting for the budget comitee to appropriate funds for the short shots!

Don't do it. We did "one" set on a Road Kingat theshop, when the 07's first came out................sounded like sh*t, the customer hated itand we've never done another set again. You definitely won't get a throaty "kind of sound"

It's a pain in the *** on the bigger bikes. They have double baffles. A double welded baffle with a baffle screen. Your better off just replacing the slip-ons. If you acomplish taking out the primary baffles, the secondaries are going to jingle like Santa's sleigh. The secondaries are almost impossible to take out.

I appreciate the feedback! Sounds like slip ons are the way to go. A little wait time, but so what! Right? Thanks again! A special thanks to BK for the link! That's where I'm headed!! R

RE: Stock Exhaust Modifications
On my 07 Electra Glide there was very little exhaust coming out of my left exhaust. The left muffler is constructed differently than the right one. When you look in the discharge end you will see a pipe with the end crimped. I opened the end up to give an area about the size of a dime. The flow increased and I feel that the sound improved. This could be welded shut againif one did not like the result, but I never got the chirping others talked about.
