I suppose you could put a yellow micro fiber on your head.

When the bugs get too thick, I grab the dish towel out of the kitchen, soak it in hot water, drape it over the bugs, then try to remember to throw it in the washing machine before my wife notices.

I wash and dry them in the dryer all the time and never had a problem with them going stiff. If anything, they seem to get softer....

Same here. They're cheap enough to just throw away if they get too grungy.
But to avoid that, I use the "Show Towels" to get the rough spots off first.

I guess I'm too old school...to me, a rag is not something I purchase, it's old stuff that was going to the garbage, that I re-used as rags.

I use old towels, old tee shirts, and old socks.

Tend to always have a little plain oil on 'em (engine oil)....which I always wipe down with, hence I can live right by the salt water ocean and ride during the winter, and have old bikes that people say always look so clean and shiny.

And having a touch of oil on the rags...keeps lint down. Not that I lose sleep and bite my fingernails if there is a few bits of lint on the bike.

They're not all created equal. Theres more than one grade of microfiber towels. Shop around if you need to and don't get the absolute cheapest ones that you can find.
