True, but a consortium of different owners conspiring together to set a certain price on the products sold is antitrust.
Kind of like what one owner of multiple businesses selling the same product would do.

Look at how many auto dealers are owned by the same group.
They all run pretty much independently. Wont make a difference.

 

Here in Memphis area we have 3 owned by the Bumpus, I prefer to go a few extra miles down the road.

 

Hannums in NJ and PA owns about 6... Im not certain this is an issue..

Unfortunately, the Ormond Beach store at Destination Daytona is still owned by the Rossmeyers. As Lauren mentioned, all the other stores that Bruce Rossmeyer owned throughout the US, and there were quite a few of them, were sold off after he died. Maybe we'll get lucky and they'll sell this one too.

 

It's a monopoly.

Now, if someone (or company) owned all the dealerships, then the FTC might be interested. Or not. After all, it's just 1 brand of motorcycle.

 

The Smokin' Harley dealership in Winston-Salem is owned by a dealer in Louisiana that owns 4 stores there.

I was just curious about these dealers that own several dealerships because where I live, I have 8 dealers within 100 miles. 4 of them are within 50 miles of me. I trade with one a while, then move on.
Is it possible in the larger markets, say like uncle kebo said, in Jersey and PA they have 6 owned by the same person, to go to one of those dealers, get a price for a trade, then go to another dealership that this person owns and work out a better deal?
