Default Light bar

I've got a 94 FXSTC, and want to install a light bar. Problem I'm seeing (before ordering one) is the lower tree isn't drilled. Can I drill it for a nut and bolt installation or will I structurally weaken the tree?

I would think drilling it would weaken the lower part of the triple tree, but then I am far from an expert in that area.

Is there pinch bolts on the lower? If so could a bracket be fabricated to serve as a mounting location for the light bar that would mount using longer pinch bolts?

Don't drill anything on your bike. There's got to be a better way. I would think a bracket, or brackets off your turn signal/running light mounts would be an option.

I wouldn't do it. I'd hate to find out the hard way that I shouldn't have drilled a hole in a critical part.

Besides, I'm pretty sure those trees are heat treated and hella hard. Good luck getting a tap or drill through them.

Drill it, I would. I am assuming you are doing this with the triple off the bike and a drill press. There's plenty of meat in the triple two mount hole centered between the front or rear edge is not going to weaken that lower triple.

Go slow, plenty of cutting fluid and start with a small diameter pilot hole.

Drill it, they can handle it. Lots of metal to work with

Well so far its 50/50, any other options? There was a mount by Holtop or something but it was discontinued

To be clear, I agree that structurally there isn't a worry. But, I am always hesitant to drill a hole(s) into my bikes. Especially for something like a light bar which isn't typical on a bike like yours.

My consideration mainly for resale. If I saw holes drilled that weren't factory I would steer clear. But that's me.

You bring up a valid point if resale is a possibility. Some folks like light bars some like myself do not. If I considered buying a bike with a light bar I would want to remove it, if removing it means I am left with two hole in the triple trees then I am looking elsewhere

A 6" Rigid Industries Single Row Driving Light will fit perfect between the forks. I was going to bolt it under the lower triple tree but I have a bunch of lines ran under for abs. Trying to figure a new bracket solution. That 6" single row driving light will turn the road into daylight.
