I will take the odd ride in a t-shirt, but I would never, I mean never, wear sandals or shorts to ride. I just wouldn't feel right or safe. I usually wear leather jacket and chaps, boots and my non-dot skidlid. If it's a short ride to the store, as you put it, jacket, jeans and always my boots. I almost lost my toes once before, so I learned my lesson.

 

Wear always boots, at the very least jean( with chaps usually) not always a dot approved helmet thou

 

Funny, I read this as I was about to run to a buddies house for a pool party - thought I might go in flip/flops - then the post about losing toes - now, I think I'll wear shoes! I met a guy a week ago who went on a 3 month 10K ride across the country - he told me he did the whole thing in sandles - I was amazed. Never riden in anything but boots/shoes, couldn't imagine a long trip in anything but. for now, I'll keep the toes covered - but I'll probably keep the shorts on since it's a 4-5 trip.

I was sorta the same when I had the gsxr... I am a little more relaxed on the hd.. but can't say i have wore flip flops lol... just once just to pull it around to wash it.. and it hurt the old toes....

 

I've ridden in tennis shoes before but that's as low as I go.

 

The very first day I got my 07 deluxe in my driveway my shoelace got caught in my gear shifter, and by the time I got it out, my bike had fallen on its side. Luckily theengine guard saved my bike, not a scratch. That was the first time I rode without boots and the first time I laid downa street bike. Never again!

 

Sometimes I ride in flip-flops, cargo shorts, and t-shirt. And I have a nice sized burn mark on my calf to prove it.

 

Tennis shoes would be about it for me. Mostly because I'm a wimp when it comes to my feet. And I think I'd be afraid of something hitting them if I was riding in flip-flops.
