Here's my two cents:

I'd bet that the air cleaner is loose and vibrating while riding. Whilst vibrating, it is spinning on its perch or mount or something in the area is chaffing thus causing iron to deposit on that area.

Just a thought.

 

I think you breather bolt is leaking.

 

I'm seeing finely powdered rust dust from a metal to metal vibration rub going on, do a little wiggling of things and checking for something loose or rubbing, does not take much even a loose clamp on chrome will do that.
