I'm no group riding expert, but the smoothest group rides I've ever been in seem to follow this pattern:

Everyone adapts to what is happening in front of them, NOT behind them. The leader sets the pace and stays on course (perhaps rarely checking the status of the line behind him/her, or better yet, receiving a report from a trailing rider]. Riders 2a and 2b [staggered], concern themselves with staying with the leader [not what's happening behind]. Riders 3a and 3b concern themselves with staying with 2a and 2b [not what's happening behind], and so on and so forth. I've been behind a leader who felt compelled to constantly check the status of his followers. What you end up with is a rubber-banding of speeding up and slowing down - not fun.

Haven't been on here in a while and just saw your message. The relative sold his bike a few months ago. He never rode. I have 8700 miles on my bike and he had 1200. Have had a few close calls but no drops yet thankfully.

Thank you sir. Haven't been on any long hauls in quite a long time. Mostly been riding with a couple buddies to local bars on Sundays to shoot some pool and converse with other local bikers. Got a new girlfriend back in November which is where a lot of my money has gone so nothing new to the bike lately unfortunately.

Tires are worn out so I have to get them replaced asap. I'm a big horror movie fan and Micheal Myers has always been my favorite and have been thinking about having him painted on my tank.

How is everyone here?
