Default Rain

I just bought a '96 Bad Boy. It has the Hawgsbreath intake on it. That is an intake with an exposed K&N filter on the end. I was riding in the heavy rain the other day and the bike was running soooo bad. It stalled a few times and I didn't know if I was going to make it home. I finally did, and I pulled the air filter off and there was some water in the intake. I know water isn't good for an engine, but how bad is it. Could I blow the motor? How can I ride in the rain without getting water in this intake? Thanks.

You didn't hurt anything, but it's time to get an air filter for riding, instead of one for looking at.

pococj, checked out your pic gallery. Some nice looking bikes. Don't think I saw any I wouldn't want to ride

Superglide, If you gonna keep the filter I saw this rain cover once a long time ago. Slip it over and you should be good to go. Never used one either though so don't take my word for it.

I was wondering the same thing! I also run a open K&N filter, not my first choice but thats what was on the bike when I bought it. I have ridden in the rain but the bike never ran bad. Although a couple times when I washed the bike and forgot to cover it I must have got water in the intake because she didnt want to run so great. I would like to replace it but I dont feel like spending more money on it right now.
