I was able to repair the threads with a tap and had a hell of a time getting the broken bolt out,I know bolts disappear all the time and has happened to me on customers cars but I do but a bolt back in with the correct thread count.

07 and I bought it when it was a year old,it could have been the previous owner or the dealer who installed it originally which I think was the dealer I bought it from.

I'll bet it was the previous owner. I know there are some bad dealers out there, but cranking the wrong size bolt into a bike just seems a little too shade tree. Lots of people that should step away from the tools out there.

That is what I thought. You bought a used bike and don't know who did the install yet blame the dealer.

The wrong fasteners would be used more likely than not by someone who didn't have immediate access to them like a dealer does. In other words the amature first owner did it.

Lot's of people who need to be beat soundly about the head and shoulders with an axe handle when they get near a tool box much less attempt to use anything in it.

That said I've made a lot of money off those sad sacks.

Sh*t dude.....you're not just whistling Dixie. I created a thriving business fixing the stupidity of the average "professional" with tools set loose on medical equipment. I finally got sick of having half my income based on fixing said stupidity and just took a job for a manufacturer. Now all of my income is based on fixing other people's mistakes.

The reason I thought of the dealer was they were the last to touch those parts and yes I never paid any attention to those bolts before so it could have been a previous owner, one would think that if the dealer had it apart they would have tried to put a correct bolt in as I do that when I find wrong bolts in customers cars when I take them apart just for this reason and not to get blamed. I also replace missing bolts when I find them.
