Default Engine won't turnover

Despite battery being on battery tender (and with green light on charger) when bike is dormant, I only get clicking sound when trying to start (sounds like a plastic machine gun). Terminals are tight - as is connection to frame. Could it be that the voltage is fine but not enough amps in battery (would that explain the green light on tender)? I guess I have to take the battery to the shop for them to see if its any good, or could it be something else? Battery is 4 years old; bike is 9 years old.

Check the voltage when you turn it over. If it drops below 10.5 volts you need a new battery.

Put your battery on a trickle charger. I use a 2 amp. See if that gives you a better charge.

He's has it on a Battery Tender.

I'd vote that it's the battery.

I have that problem once in a while and that is because the starter jack shaft gets stuck.

Install a push button on your starter and see if that works. If you end up still needed a battery, keep it installed for emergency use.
