Whatever.

One of the nice things (but far from the nicest) about already having the last bike you'll ever own is that I really could not care less about the fortunes of the MoCo. They consider my bike "obsolete" anyway.

Don't need them.

It's just real hard for an American (mostly) vehicle company in todays world. It must drive HD nuts to hear "not American made" and the "Prices are to high" almost in the same sentence. I'm surprised to hear Polaris is their competition? I watched the Discovery show about Harley Davidson (and now I own my first), it was interesting to see how in the early days they were on the cutting edge technology. If only....

Ditto! I can't really see Polaris hurting them though, but Honda, yes. I talked to a Gold Wing rider one day,and I gotta say,it was one helluva bike[not saying I'd ever be seen on one though]

analysts and investors are sharks who will eagerly torpedo a company's future so they can cash out and make a quick buck. Harely still has around 50% of the marketshare for bikes in this country, still is profitable, so any "****" yst who calls them "troubled" can be safely ignored.

What kid says "When I grow up I want to ride a Goldwing, or a Polaris"?

There have been reports of MoCos demise since forever. I'll bet the same thing was said when they introduced the first OHV 1936 OHV motor. It had several recalls during early production.

My dad figured it wa over when HD added e-start (he rode in the 40s and 50s).

Same thing happened when AMF took over (and we all know what that acronym stood for).

Don't think the brand is going anywhere and don't think they will sell out to some private investor who will run the brand into the grand for a few bucks and then claim bankruptcy (see Indian for that X3).

I believe the M8 is a big step to the future and believe it will work to MoCos benefit and profitability.

And this from someone who owns and rides Pans and Shovels.

From your title you have seemingly given up on the brand and claimed them "dead". Others of us still believe there is a lot of life left in the Company.

Enjoy your ride.

I would love to see Harley go private and not have to deal with the nickle diming board members and stock holders

This line said it all for me:

"By going private, Harley could focus once more on building great bikes and fixing what's wrong at the company without having to worry about engaging in dubious practices that could ultimately damage its reputation".
