The Twin Cam 88 came out in 1999 for the touring models, I bought a '99 Roadking,
the softtails switched from the Evo to the TC88B motor in 2000.

By putting the Knothead in the touring models first they are getting riders who will probably put more miles on the engine and give a better indication of issues that may arise.

In other words, beta testers

JMHO of course..

As I've reported elsewhere on this forum, my local dealer has a dealer's markup of around $3,500-$4,000 for the Milwaukee 8 bikes. That's over and above MSRP. Obviously they are expecting them to sell like hotcakes. Given this, I would bet money that we see the Milwaukee-8 engines on Softails and Dynas very soon indeed. Not to mention that one of the many objectives of the Milwaukee 8 engine is to conform to EPA requirements.

Thats insane. My dealer here has them listed at MSRP, and that if I was really interested to take a test ride then they would talk numbers if I was ready. I'm not ready to drop $24k so I didn't get that far. I know if I test ride I'll be adding to the stable

Production capacity will most likely determine the roll out of the new motor.

If the softails remain solid mounted, they will probably need to add additional counterbalance weight to smooth out the remaining shake in the current M8. Also might make the softails rubber mounted so to use the same motor in all bikes.

Lots of options for the MoCo.
