Default HD leather jacket

I never gave much thought to a leather jacket. I have a textile/mesh jacket which has worked out great, but then I stopped in a Harley dealer last week and saw a jacket that I really liked the look of. So like an idiot I tried it on. Now I can't stop thinking about it. I won't have $450 anytime soon though.

Anyone else have one of these? It's just perfect for me. Maybe you can send me yours, heh heh.

Shotz, Hillside or ANY number of made in USA jackets cost the same as the MOCO jackets, are just as good, and with very few exceptions.....MUCH BETTER.

I bought a Rev'it jacket with CE Level 2 armor for less than the cost of that jacket.

I'd rather have function over fashion when it comes to motorcycle gear.

The leather on the HD jackets is too thin and cheap to be any good. The accident padding in them is a pi$$ poor joke. It's nice to have the HD embroidery I'm sure, but the cheap Chinese jacket won't do as good of a job as higher quality, true cowhide leather. You can get much better from dozens of aftermarket manufacturers. Like bikerlaw says, Shotz is good, but lots of others are too.

IDK, but maybe I'm one of the odd few, both my mesh & leather HD jackets are Chinese products...I have had "0" problems and they're holding up fine (going on 4+ years).

I say...YOLO so get/buy what makes you happy. That's one sweet jacket - have you checked the part# online? I bought mine $100 cheaper than local brick/mortar shop. Tried to get them t price match, but they didn't budge so online order worked great for me. Even got free HD backpack to boot (hidden surprise in box).

I agree. I would also add Vanson to that list. You can get much better quality than the HD stuff for the same or just a little bit more money.

I have a 20 year old HD leather jacket and a 4 year old. Best jackets you can get, depending on what you are looking for. I am not looking for a jacket to fall of my bike with. 95% of the time I'm not wearing a jacket anyway. I want a jacket that will keep me warm and comfortable. I also have a Fox Creek leather which is nice but tooooo heavy unless you're riding in Siberia. Another advantage to a Harley jacket is you can try them on. I have a 2XL Harley that fits like a 2XL. The Fox Creek is a 4XL and smaller. They are expensive but last forever or until you put on too much weight.

I've purchased items in the past that came highly recommended, made in the USA, were top dollar and supposed to be very high quality. Some of them didn't live up to their reputation.

I have an HD leather jacket. Going on 4+ years old and still looks new. Yes, it's made in China. What makes it all worth it is that it came with an HD hanger.

The jacket the OP posted about is a nice looking jacket. I'll have to look into it. Are there better ones out there... of course. Like Iceman said, you only live once. I get what I want. If it doesn't last I'll get another one.
