Only problem I've ever had a fob is when I forgot to replace the battery every 2 years. Ofcourse I keep an easy to remember PIN for all my bikes just incase. I also keep transport instructions on the bike for trailer hauling. That siren can be annoying as hell and the bike sensors are so touchy now just moving it off the side stand can set it off.

Is there a way to enter a code instead of manually disarming with the fob? Is there a way to reset this code without a dealer? Thanks!
go here: https://serviceinfo.harley-davidson.com/sip/

you will have to create an account if you don't already have one, but you can look up owners manuals and other documents for many bikes here. I use it quite often.

I've got a dyna with security. They need two out of three to get it started. If they wanna break the fork lock and pick it up or push it then I guess they earned their trophy. If they want it bad enough they'll have it. Low life's go to great lengths to be lowlifes. Refuse to earn an honest day's pay though. As stated only need it to start if you don't know pin procedure. Otherwise just for convenience.

GOD I love my EVO! I had an'09 EGC with security, ABS, electric throttle, etc and every one of those wonders of technology failed at one time of another. I'm done with it. There's plenty of great used older bikes that run great. are reliable as a rock and fun to ride.
Oh yeah, wheel bearings, WTF is with wheel bearings failing at 12K mile?
Oh, and the bike pictured below is an '05 twinkle with 126,000 miles, never any issues. It's got throttle cables, brakes that work and is a hoot to ride.......anywhere.

On the '17's the key is spring loaded in the fob. Oh and they're EPA friendly.

My first bike with security was an 07 FXSTC. H-D says to change the battery every year. I'm cheap at 5 years at a rally it went bad. Just inputted the code which I set when I first got it home and read the owner's manual.

The code I installed takes about 30 to 45 seconds to enter. What's so hard about that? At Sturgis this year I started the bike by the tent and forgot the fob was in the tent. 100 miles later in NewCastle Wyoming I stopped for gas and when I went to leave only the turn signals flashed. I realized my mistake and popped in the code. Away I went for another 100+ miles.

I used the same code on all the bikes. I will even post it 11111. If you think you can get it go ahead and try. It seems that most owners don't even know how to do it.

Good point. The code was set to 11111 by the shop that sold me my scooter. I changed it, but as you point out, it would be relatively safe to attach a reminder note containing the code.
