Gadgets can and do fail for numerous reasons, yet to see a key do that that didn't have alcohol involved.

I'm the guy that used to pull electronic ignitions out of my friend's Shovelheads because you can always find points on a Sunday afternoon.

I didn't mind the type of fob you had to squeeze to turn on the alarm, but I didn't like the automatic ones when I first got it. After 8 years I've gotten used to it and it's no big deal. Nice to have a little extra security knowing that no one is going to ride your bike away. Make the code something you can remember.

Got priors

I've had 3 fobs on my trucks alarm system randomly go **** up on me the last 10 years , got no faith in them.

Never a problem with my fob, change batteries yearly, practiced my code, easy. I do lock my bike almost everywhere I go if it will be out of my sight. Also my insurance offers a discount for the passive security system.

On my 06 FLHT my fob doesn't have the RF deal so I don't actually need to carry it with me unless I manually arm the bike when I park. I bought it used so I'm not sure about the whole code deal. I tried to find info on it when I first bought it but it seemed like all the info I could find was for the newer systems. Anyone with an older bike want to shed some light on this? Is there a way to enter a code instead of manually disarming with the fob? Is there a way to reset this code without a dealer? Thanks!

You obviously don't know me.

Not to pick on you, but there is a vey easy solution. Set the code to a "numbers, codes and passwords I have to remember already". Or a number only you would already know, such as the first 5 or last 5 digits of your social security number.
