Default Electrical issues.

Hi, I have a 98 Electra glide that I just purchased. I'm having an issue with my brake lights and turn signals. When I pull my front brake lever I get no brake light. When I push my rear brake pedal I get no brake light. But however when I push the rear brake pedal and pull the front brake lever I get the brake light to light up. And the turn signals will not work unless I have the rear brake press and as soon as I let off they shut off. Also when I press the rear pedal my speedo light lights up. I was just wondering if anyone who is good with wiring would know what the issue is. Thank you!

No one can guess what the other guy did. Connector under the seat to the rear lights is where I'd start, a VOM, and the wiring diagram will tell you if need to pull the fender and check the wiring. Good luck with that one, brother.

I am good with electrical but your's sounds like a Chinese puzzle.? HA. Push the foot pedal harder. Does that help? That one is a hydraulic switch in the brake line. The lever is a small micro switch under the lever.

What speedo light lights up?

My second guess is the way it is doing, I bet you have a Harley diode box that makes the rear signal lights break lights and also signal. I bet that little box is shorted out. It's usually under the seat were the rear light connects to another connector going into rear fender and then back to lights. That optional box piggy backs into that connector. Are your rear signal light lens red? If you have that box, take it out and plug the connector back in and see if that fixes it.

Post this in the EVO section for more help. Definitely sounds like a short somewhere.
