I have a longish beard and wear one to keep beard from flying up into my face, and to keep me from looking like that old prospector on many a John Wayne films (you know with the beard that sticks straight out) when I get off the bike.

Thanks to this article, I am going to throw out my full faced helmet and get a bandana instead.

I always wear one soaked in bug spray around my neck when I'm hiking or fishing.
